Students of the 2014 D3 Secretarial FE UNY study program held a social service event at the Ash-Shidiqiyah orphanage located in Kokap, Sermo Kulon Progo on Sunday, December 25, 2016 with the theme “We Care, We Share”. This activity is the final project of the event organizer course. "This event was chosen based on the idea that human beings have a sense of concern for their surroundings to provide assistance to those in need according to their abilities, as well as a form of year-end activity (farewell) that can provide memorable memories for 5th semester students of secretarial study program before graduating from beloved university. This activity is a means of socialization between the residents in the orphanage”. This is the explanation from Shinta, the head of the committee for the social service event.

“In this activity we donated basic necessities, suitable clothes, stationery & books as well as some money that was collected from volunteers and several donors. This social service activity went well and smoothly thanks to the support and sense of solidarity of the lecturers, volunteers and also friends who have participated in this event as well as our enthusiasm for all social service event committees who want to serve the community. This social service is a form of assistance which, although small, is very useful to lighten the burden in the orphanage.” Said Anna Risky as event coordinator.

This social service program starts at 08.30 WIB until 14.00 WIB. The children of the Ash-Shidiqiyah orphanage were very enthusiastic in participating in the existing series of events. The activities carried out at the orphanage include: Opening, remarks from the chairman of the social service committee Shinta Aditya Pramudawardani, remarks by Ms. Muslikhah Dwi Hartanti, M.Pd., remarks from the orphanage management, followed by games with the orphans, motivation by Mrs. Rr Chusnu Syarifa Diah Kusuma, M.Sc. as a lecturer in charge of the Event Organizer course, Mujahadah together, and continued with the main event (delivery of assistance to the orphanage management), a pension from the committee and orphanage children then closing the activity.

“With this event, we hope that social service activities can be held to ease the burden on the orphanage children. This activity is also a bridge for our concern, especially for those in need. Hopefully with this activity we can continue to maintain friendship with the residents of the orphanage and the assistance provided is useful and we all get a reward from Allah SWT."
