SLEMAN – Office Automation and Governance (OTKP) teachers must be able to predict the skills students will need in the future. Thus, teachers can prepare and equip students with the right skills. Arwan Nur Ramadhan, M.Pd., Digital Transformation Lecturer of the Administrative Education Study Program, Faculty of Economics, UNY, said that these skills include data analysis skills, Software & Technology, Cyber ​​Security and several other skills. "It's not how to make software, but how they can choose one of the many existing software and operate it to make office work more effective," he said in an online discussion with the theme of OTKP Teachers in the Industrial Revolution Era 4.0 which was held Thursday (29/7). “This is what we need to prepare for our friends at Office Vocational Schools so that they can survive. We have to be able to see what our students should be in the next 5-10 years,” he added in the event, which was attended by vocational teachers from all over Indonesia. Not only that, he said, teachers must also be able to position themselves in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. Like it or not, teachers must transform towards digital, given the large impact of digitalization. Globally, he said, digitization is expected to eliminate 1-1.5 billion jobs over the course of the year. “It could be that, in the future, mail distribution will no longer be physical but has shifted to e-mail. It can even go to the system, no longer e-mail. Including digital signatures, "said the man who is also a member of the Expert Team of the Directorate General of Belmawa Kemendikbudristek.At the school level, digitalization is felt to provide its own challenges, especially in terms of the availability of the latest equipment for learning. Tuhadi, a teacher at SMK 1 Pengasih Kulonprogo, said that the procurement of tools always takes a long time so that schools find it difficult to provide skills to students according to the demands of the business world and the industrial world. "Perhaps there is a solution because we know the government budget will take time to process," he said, conveying the obstacles. Sulistyawati, S.Pd., M.Par., M.Sc., the head of the Central Java OTKP MGMP, said that some schools do feel that the infrastructure is still far from the demands of the industry. For this reason, teachers need to bridge this gap so that students can get a good learning experience without having to wait for the availability of tools at school. “We have a lot of partner industries and they have sophisticated equipment. We can bring them to school or by sending students gradually to partners where there is technology available,” said the resource person who is also an outstanding teacher at the national vocational high school. Waiting for sarpras for learning in class will certainly make students fall further behind. Collaborating with industry, he said, is a viable alternative. “We knock on industrial doors and communicate. They support it, especially in this era they want to help children in giving real learning, "he said. In addition to the availability of tools, another challenge was felt by Indah, a teacher at SMKN 1 Oku Selatan, South Sumatra. He said that the affordability of the signal was a challenge in the implementation of online learning. “We from OTKP teachers use Zoom, G-Meet and others for learning. But many students are not reached by the internet. In addition, most of our students' cellphones do not support it," he said. However, he and other teachers at his school never give up on teaching their students. "Some of us apply the offline system by coming to school to take assignments," he said.
